A fair coin is tossed 100 times. What is the probability of getting tails an odd number of times ?

A. 1/2
B. 1/4
C. 1/3
D. 1/8
E. 2/3

The answer is either odd or even (with an even distribution), so it is 50% odd and 50% even.

Ans: A

What is the reason for the assumption of 50% - 50%?
P.S. Probability is one of my weakest areas. Tips on improvement!

Given that A fair coin is tossed 100 times and we need to find What is the probability of getting tails an odd number of times ?

As the coin is fair coin and there are only two outcomes possible.

Either the number of tails will be odd or will be even => There is equal change of occurrence of both the outcomes.

=> P(odd number of tails) = $$\frac{1}{2}$$
