I first attempted GMAT in Aug 2012. I was preparing for the exam a lot. I had office from 9 to 9.
I used to study for 3-4 hours everyday. I prepared for over two months and then gave the exam.
But I bombed it. I got only 640. Obviously, I thought too much of myself. I was down for a long time.

Again I started preparing for it. I was going good in the tests. It was Mar 2013.
I went to GMAT centre for exam. For identification proof, I was asked to produce my passport (I am from India. Here we have to produce passport as id proof).
Well, I had bought my driving license (thinking that it is enough for id proof).
But the lady told me, unless I produce passport, I can't give the exam.
I was staying 4 hours away from the exam centre. So, as you would have thought, I couldn't give the exam.

I was overly frustrated with myself cause it was all my fault. I couldn't blame anyone but myself.
I thought that's it. No more GMAT. Just continue with your job.

Few days before, I was watching the "Last Lecture". I have watched it quite a number of times.
Suddenly, it hit me that I must give it a try one more time.

So, here I am. Starting fresh. I hope to well this time.

Good luck - indeed the security procedures at the testing center are quite intense. They can make airport security checks seem like kid's play.

Motivation is key - when you know you want something - put your mind to it. If you get stuck, seek the guidance of others who have been there, and make it happen---that's the way to do it.

Good luck! And sorry to hear of the security issue the last time you attempted to take the test. That must have been so frustrating. :(

A 640 is certainly not a bad score at all. It's a great baseline. Many courses (such as ours -- Economist GMAT Tutor) offer a score guarantee, so that may be something worth looking into. We offer a score improvement guarantee of 50 or 70 points, or your money back. In fact, we just conducted a survey of our past Students and were so pleased to learn that about a quarter of our Students reported that they improved 90 points or more!

If you have any questions about GMAT prep options, or about the GMAT in general, please let me know.
