65% of 40 = 26
25% of 10 = 2.5

Total dark chocolate = 28.5
Total chocolate = 10+40 = 50

Total % of dark chocolate = (28.5/50)x2 = 57%

A weighted average approach:

$$.65(40) + .25(10) =\frac{x}{100}(40 + 10)$$

$$26 + 2.5 =\frac{50x}{100}$$

$$26 + 2.5 = \frac{1}{2}x$$

$$52 + 5 = x$$

$$x = 57$$

Dark from 40lbs: 65%*40 = 26lbs
Dark from 10lbs: 25%*10 = 2.5lbs
Dark from 50lbs: 26+2.5 = 28.5lbs

Percent of chocolate dark: $$\frac{dark}{chocolate}=\frac{28.5}{50}=\frac{57}{100}={57%}$$
