A good movie reviewer should be able to give favorable reviews of movies that are not to his or her taste. Because movie reviewers have seen so many movies, their tastes are byre different from and usually better informed than those of most moviegoers. Yet the function of movie reviewers, as opposed to film critics, is to help people determine which movies they might enjoy seeing, not to help them better appreciate movies.
Which one of following most accurately expresses the overall conclusion drawn in the argument?
(A) Most reviewers' tastes in movies are very different from and usually better informed than those of most moviegoers
(B) If a movie reviewer is good, he or she should be able to give favorable reviews of movies that are not to his or her taste
(C) The function of a movie reviewer is different from that of a film critic
(D) Movie reviewers see many more movies than most moviegoers see
(E) The role of movie reviewers is to help people determine which movies they might enjoy seeing, not to help people better appreciate movies
Afterthought: (Although could not understand the passage along with the question stem properly as in what it is asking)
(A) Okay!! But what about the scope 'helping people' or 'ability of giving favourable reviews'. 'Different taste' is also not inferable. Overall this choice is not covering the whole of the scope of passage. Finally, most importantly, how does other two scopes/aspects lead to this choice a final conclusion of the passage.
(C) It is not about the function of a movie reviewer because of the structure of the passage. It kind of points the comparison between the two which is not the essence of the passage.
(D) Again true but covers only a part fo the passage.
This is a tough one and POE helps to chose between (A) and (E), not easy again though. One way is to compare the two choices and consider one of them leading to another. The later would be the final conclusion and accordingly the options is our answer.
The role of movie reviewer is vital in him/her being good in reviewing movies so that they give favourable reviews of movies even if they are not to his or her taste.
