From daisy to rose:

average speed = r meters per second

time = 10 seconds

distance = speed × time

distance = 10r meters

From rose to poppy:

average speed = r + 3 meters per second

time = 6 seconds

distance = 6(r + 3) = 6r + 18 meters

Since the distance from daisy to rose is 2 meters longer than the distance from rose to poppy, we can make the following equation:

10r = (6r + 18) + 2

4r = 20

r = 5 meters per second
