If a patron turned in a book worth$22 and a due date of April 12, on what day was the book turned in?

(1) The overdue fee was $1.10.$1.10 is 5% of $22, so the book was turned in, during the second period, between 8 and 14 days after 12th of April. Not sufficient. (2) If the book had been turned in one day later, the overdue fee would have been$4.40 more. This statement implies that the book was turned in on the last day of a certain period. Next, $4.40 is 20% of$22, 20% increment is between 2nd and 3rd; 3rd and 4th; and 4th and 5th periods. Not sufficient.

(1)+(2) Since from (2) the book was turned in on the last day of certain period and from (1) the book was turned in during the second period, then the book was turned in 14 days after 12th of April. Sufficient.

Hope it's clear.
