A majority is singular. A collective noun is usually singular in cases such as, a majority, an army, a team for people and for items bagage, equipment, is singular.
A trick: When in doubt, think singular. There are more scenarios that are singular than there are plural!

A majority/Majority of X
Verb form is decided by the X

Eliminate A, B, C.

Between D and E,
D has pronoun error /SV error--> they refers to company - - - > wrong

E corrects the mistake by using it

A majority of X

In this case - - - > x decides the verb form

A Majority and the majoority without a preposition follow the same rule as the number / a number.
