Given:- Ship Sent out each day >= 1

To ascertain---For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

Statement (1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

One day ship departed= 20
Rest days=6
Min no. of ships that can be departed on these 6 days = 1x6=6 (Considering one per day)

Total for 7# days= 20+6=26

Sufficient

Statement (2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

If each day ship departed is different in number, least possible values on these 7 days will be { 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 }
Sum= Sum of first seven consecutive no. = 7x (7+1)/2=28

Sufficient

Statement 1: If 20 departed on one day itself, min total would be 26.

20,1,1,1,1,1,1

This is sufficient.

Statement2: diff nos each day
1,2,3,4,5,6,7
Min total = 28
Sufficient.

Both statements are sufficient.

Option D

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed. - Sufficient. One day 20 ships + other days minimum 6 ships = 26 ships > 25 ships
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.Sufficient - Minimum possible values are 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 = 7*8/2=28 ships > 25 Ships

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

From statement we have that at least 1 ship ship every day, so per week we have a minimum number of 7 shipped units.

From (1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed we have that:

For 1 of the seven days: 20 shipped units
For the rest we can consider the minimun number: 1*6days= 6

20 + 6 = 26, so sufficient.

From (2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day we have that:

at least 1 per day , so if we consider the minimum for different numbers per day, the result will be (+1 for the following day):

1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7 = 28

So sufficient

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

Atleast 1 ship on everyday

Statement 1 :-

One of the day - 20 ships departed. So, remaining 6 days atleast 6 ships (1 on each day) departed.

Total ship departed > 25. Sufficient.

Statement 2 :-

Number of ship departed is different on each day.

So, for 7 days Total Ship departed = 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 7*8/2=28

Total ship departed > 25. Sufficient.

given: 7 days the company sent at least 7 ships
rule/formula: the sum of the first positive integers is n(n+1)/2

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed: one day=20 + six days≥6 = total≥26>25 sufficient.
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day: sum of first 7 positive integers = 7(8)/2 = 28>25 sufficient.

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

If only one ship departed on each of the other 6 days (the minimum), we have 20+6 = 26 - Sufficient

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Minimum condition - 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 28 - Sufficient

Statement 1: If on one day 20 ships left and on the remaining days only 1 ship left per day. Total ships that week would be 26. So, Statement 1 alone is sufficient.
Statement 2: Minimum number of ships that can be shipped = (1+2+3+4+5+6+7) = 28. So, Statement 2 alone is sufficient.
Hence, D is correct

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

Question Stem asking that number of departed ships in 7 days if > 25?

Statement 1; In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed & if t least 1 ship every day has to depart, the minimum 6 ships have departed in rest of the 6 Days;

At any how for a certain 7 days we have minimum 26 ships departed which is >25; SUFFICIENT

Statement 2; the numbers of ships departed are different each day, if Day 1 has 1 ship departed (minimum), then Day 2(or any other day in that 7 days period, for sake of simplicity i am considering Day 2) must has 2 ships departed (min.), similarly in Day 3, 4,5,6,7 number of ships to be departed are 3,4,5,6,7 ships respectively (minimum);

adding all those we have (1+2+3+4+5+6+7) = 28 (minimum) ships to be departed which is again >25; SUFFICIENT

Each statement alone is sufficient; hence option D

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
This is sufficient. Say 20 ships were shipped on Monday. Thus on other days, the number of ships should be at least 6.
20+6=26.
Hence definitely yes!
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Let's take the least possible values:1+2+3+4+5+6+7=28
Another number of ships will be even greater.
Hence this statement is sufficient too.

The question is a yes or no .

If one is 20 then other be least as 1

Then we have

20+1+1+1+1+1+1=26

Yes it is greater than 25

Then on all days different number of ships go ,one ship goes each day

Then least no is 1+2+3+4+5+6+7

That is 28 , always will be greater than 25

Maritime shipping company sends out atleast one ship everyday. Hence, the minimum number of ships = 7.

Statement 1: In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
In such case, considering the company sent out 20 ships on Monday and the minimum of 1 ship on the rest of the 6 days, we get 20+6 = 26 ships > 25 ships.
Hence, this statement is sufficient.

Statement 2: The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
In this case, if 1 ship(the minimum) is sent out on Monday, the minimum number of ships that can be sent out on Tuesday would be 2, Wednesday 3 and so on...
Which gives us the total number of ships to be = 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 27 ships > 25 ships.
Hence, this statement is sufficient.

Therefore, the answer is D which is either of the two statements are sufficient to answer the question.

At least one ship is set out everyday for a week. Are the total number of ships sent out, during the seven day period, greater than 25?

St-1: In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed. - If on one of the 7 days, 20 ships are sent out and we know that in the other 6 days AT LEAST 1 ship would have been sent out as per the question, then the total ships sent out will at least be 20+6=26, i.e. > 25. Sufficient.

St-2: The numbers of ships departed are different each day. - If a unique number of ships depart every day and at least 1 ship departs everyday, then on 7 days total number of ships sent out will be at least 1+2+3+4+5+6+7=28. Sufficient.

Provided that both st-1 and st-2 are individually sufficient to answer the question, Correct option is D.

Information available from main question stem: atleast one ship sent out each day

We need to find if the total number of ship sent out for a certain seven days is more than 25 (unique answer Yes or No).

St: 1
In one of the seven days 20 ships departed.
If we consider as per given information that only 1 ship departed on rest of the six days, we get a total of 26 for these seven days. Hence, the minimum for these seven days = 26 > 25.
Hence, St 1 is sufficient.

St: 2
The number of ship departed on each is different and atleast 1 ship is departed.

Let us consider minimum and different values for each of the seven days:

Days: A B C D E F G
No. of ships: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Sum total is 29 > 25.
St 2 is sufficient.

A - on 1 day 20 ships were sent so out of remaining 6 days atleast 6 more ships will be sent.
So the minimum value is 26, which is more than 25

A is sufficient.

B - different ships departed each day and atleast one is sent each day
The minimum value would be from the set (1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
minimum ships departed is 28
B is also sufficient

We surely know that every day we have at least 1 ship departure. Hence for 7 days we have at least 7 ship departures. With this in mind, let's analyze stataments.

ST1. If in one of days 20 ships were sent out, then at least 6 ships were sent out in other 6 days. The total number for 7 days is at least 26. Since $$26>25$$, ST1 is Sufficient.

ST2. If the numbers of ships departed are different each day, then these numbers must be at least 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Accordingly, we have at least 28 ships sent out. Since $$28>25$$, ST2 is Sufficent.

Hence D

In my opinion, it helps to think of the solutions in terms of MINIMUM and MAXIMIUM.

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

MINIMUM SHIPS DAILY = 1

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
Order of the days doesnt matter
Lets assume day 1 had 20 ships.
Remaining 6 days have MINIMUM 1 SHIP so total 6 ships

Total MINIMUM SHIPS for 7 days = 26

(1) IS SUFFICIENT

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Lets see how many MINIMUM ships we can send if EACH DAY has MINIMUM 1 ship and EACH DAY has DIFFERENT NUMBER.

Day1 - 1
Day2 - 2
Day3 - 3
Day4 - 4
Day5 - 5
Day6 - 6
Day7 - 7

So MINIMUM 28 ships are departed...... (here 28 can be arrived by simple addition, but if the sequence was long we could use formula n(n+1)/2)

(2) IS SUFFICIENT

ANSWER: D - EACH IS SUFFICIENT

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

given atleast 1 ship per day, ie $$>=$$ 1 question is in 7 days is total ships > 25 ?

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

20 ships and add atleast one ship in remaining 6 days. so atleast 26 ships have departed . so sufficient because it is greater than 25 ans is yes.

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

so as per given condition the seven days should have atleast 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 ships respectively on each day. its total is > 25 . so this also sufficient to answer as YES

so ans is D

We are asked whether the total number of ships that were departed during a week is greater than 25 or not?

As per the question, at least one ship is departed on each day, that means, at least 7 ships are departed during a week.

1. In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
It means one day 20 ships + on remaining six days 6 ships (least possible value)
=> 20+6 = 26
This is suffiecient.

2. The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
This means the number of ships departed can be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 (Least possible values)
This is sufficient.

Please hit kudos if you like the solution.

1 stm --> We don't know the rest 6 days, but we know for sure that at least one ship was shipped in every day, so the minimum ships must be 20+6=26 which is more than 25. Sufficient
2 stm --> Even if we minimize the ships we are left with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ships per seven day period; their sum is 28 which is more than 25. Sufficient

IMO
Ans: D

P.S hope this explanation is clear enough for KUDOS, I could write more futile words but explanation won't be clearer than this one
