A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

since each day at least 1 ship is departed, for seven days minimum 7 ships will be departed.

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
On one of the seven days, 20 ships are departed. If we assume that rest of the six days, minimum 1 ship is departed each day, Then minimum total number of ships departed over seven days = 20 + 6 = 26 > 25
Statement 1 is sufficient.

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Since number of ships departed are different each day, lets assume following:
on first day 1 ship is departed,
on second day 2 ships are departed,
on third day 3 ships,
.
.
on seventh day 7 ships.

So minimum total number of ships departed over seven days = 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 > 25.
Statement 2 is sufficient.

Hence both options are sufficient alone.

Given,

1. Atleast 1 ship sent out everyday.
2. Ships departed for a given 7 day period.

To find,

Is total number of ships departed in those 7 days > 25

Option 1: In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

20 ships departed in 1 of the days and let us assume that the minimum value of 1 ship departed on all the other 6 days. This would make minimum total to be 26 which is more than 25.

Hence,

Option 1 sufficient.

Option 2: The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

If the number of ships departed each day is differnt and since minimum number of ships departed each day is 1. The total across 7 days will be a minimum value of 28 which is more than 25.

Hence,

Option 2 sufficient.

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

So to answer we only need to know whether # of shipments more than OR [less or equal to ] 25.

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

In other 6 days at least 1 shipping is made, therefore total # of shippings will be at least 6*1+20 = 26. Suffient to answer positively.

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

Since min # of shipments is 1, then let's assume one shipment is made on Monday. Since # of shipment are different each day then min # that should be on Tuesday, Wed, ... etc must be as following: 2,3,4,5,6,7. Adding 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 we get 28. 28 is more than 25 therefore this information is sufficient as well

Therefore answer is D : each option is sufficient

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

From the first statement we can conclude that the number of ships will be at least 26, because shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day.
So we have 20+1*6 = 26 ships. The first statement alone is sufficient

From the second statement we can conclude that the number of ships will be at least 28:
1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 28. The second statement alone is sufficient

The answer is D - each statement alone is sufficient

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

If 20 on one of the days then even if minimum one ship goes out then the total becomes 26 which is greater than 25.
20+1*6 = 26 >25
Sufficient.

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Min value =1
If the ships can be same then the minimum value will be 1+2+3+4+5+6+7=28 which is >25
Sufficient.

From the question we know that at least one ship departs every day. We are to determine whether the total number of ships that departed over a certain 7 days period is more than 25.

1. One day out of the seven, 20 ships departed.
We know that at least 1 ship depart each day. Therefore knowing that 20 ships depart on one of the days, we can assume a worst case that only one ship departed on the remaining six days. This would mean a minimum possible ships that departed is 26. Hence sufficient.

2. Different number of ships that depart on each of the days. This tells us that each day’s departures in terms of numbers is unique. Assuming a worst case where only an additional ship departs from previous day. This means if one leaves on the first day then total departures =1+2+3+4+5+6+7 =28 hence this is sufficient as well as we can answer Yes.

Since both 1 and 2 are sufficient on their own, the answer is D.

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

here will go through each statement

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
Since everyday minimum 1 ship departed so - 20+1*6 = minimum 26 ships - sufficient

STMT2
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
1+2+3+4+5+6+7= 28
Sufficient

So Ans - D

Question: For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
Given at least 1 ship departed daily, the arrangement of min. number of ship departed at those seven days can be:
$$(M, T, W, Th, F, Sat, Sun) = (20, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1), (1, 20, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1), (1, 1, 20, 1, 1, 1, 1), etc.$$
Thus, the total number of the ships departed is: $$20+1+1+1+1+1+1 = 26 (min.)$$ or more than 25.
SUFFICIENT

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Given at least 1 ship departed daily, the arrangement of min. number of ship departed at those seven days can be:
$$(M, T, W, Th, F, Sat, Sun) = (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7), (1, 4, 3, 2, 7, 6, 5), (7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1), etc.$$
Thus, the total number of the ships departed is: $$1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 28 (min.)$$ or more than 25.
SUFFICIENT

for a given no of days total ships departed >25 , atleast 1 ship is sent every day
#1In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed
so for other 6 days if 1 ship also departs then total ships departed would be 26 ; sufficient
#2 The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
day 1 ; 1 then each day if +1 then total ships 7*8/2 ; 28 ; sufficient
IMO D

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

Given at least one ship ships everyday , ==> At least 7 ships ship every week

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.--Sufficient
20 ships - one day + >6 for rest of 6 days = 20+6 > 25

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.--Sufficient
Given ships ship /day > 1 , and ships cannot be fractions are negative numbers
Minimum possibility ==> 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 28>25

Option D is the correct Answer

Given: At least 1 ship is sent out per day.
So, min. no. of ships sent out in a week =7
Statement 1: 20 ships are sent on 1 day. Now to meet rquirement of more than 25 ships in 7 days, ships req. to be sent=6 at least.
remaining days=7-1=6(one day with 20 ships departure)
Min. no. of ships that will be sent in 6 days =6
Therefore, Min. no of ships that will depart in 7 days= 20+6=26
Since 26>25, therefore statement 1 is sufficient.

Statement 2: No. of ships sent per day are different
Therefore, if min. 1 ship is sent out on first day, then:
Min no.to be sent out on 2nd day=2
Min no. to be sent out on 3rd day=3
Min no. to be sent out on 4th day=4
Min no. to be sent out on 5th day=5
Min no. to be sent out on 6th day=6
Min no. to be sent out on 7th day=7
Total min. no of ships departed in 7 days= 1+2+3+4+5+6+7=28 >25
Statement 2 is sufficient

Statement 1) On a particular day 20 ships have departed.

Out of 7 days in a week, on one particular 20 ships have departed and on the remaining 6 days even if only 1 ship has departed each day, then the total no. of ships departed in a week will be 20+6 = 26. This is sufficient to say, Yes more than 25 ships have departed in a week. SUFFICIENT.

Statement 2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

If we take the least possible no. of ships departed each day, then the count will be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. This is the least possible case in which no. of ships departed each day are different.

So total no. of ships departed in a week = 28.

This statement is also sufficient to say, Yes more than 25 ships have departed in a week. SUFFICIENT.

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

Given info:
at least 1 ship every day
for 7 days total ships more than 25?

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

If 20 ships departed on one day and consider 1 ship on every day for 6 days.
Then total for 7 days will be:

20 + 6 = 26
More than 25.

Sufficient.

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

Consider minimum ships on each day.
that will be 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 > 25

Sum is more than 25.
Sufficient.

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

Stmt 1 - If 20 were shipped on one of the seven days and for the next 6 six days even if one ship departed everyday, that will be a total of 20 + 6 = 26 ships which is more than 25. Hence sufficient

Stmt 2 - Clearly insufficient because we don't have any information about how many ships departed each day. It could be just one every day or more than one.

A maritime shipping company sends out at least 1 ship every day. For a certain seven days, is the total number of the ships departed more than 25?

(1) In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.
one remaining 6 days minimum possible '1' ship leaves each day. total = 20+6 = 26+.................can answer the question.

(2) The numbers of ships departed are different each day.
Minimum possible sum of ships with this condition = 1+2+3+4+5+6+7=28.................................can answer the question.
(starting from minimum 1 and increasing it 1 per day.)

So, each can answer the question independently.

Soln:
Given- Company departs atleast one ship every day
Q is no if ships depart in 7 days is > 25 or not

St 1- In one of the seven days, 20 ships departed.

So if on one day 20 ships were departed and rest of the 6 days just one than also it will be greater. -sufficient

St 2 - The numbers of ships departed are different each day.

So each day has to have different no of ships departed and should be atleast one as given. Lets take a case where we put min values to check .

day : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

no of ships departed: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 = 28 ships > 25

St 2 is sufficient.

We need to find if a shipping company shipped at least 26 ships in a certain week. First statement gives us enough information to deduce that since on just one day 20 ships were shipped and on each other days at least one ship departed. In one week, at least 26 ships departed. This answers yes to question in stem. Statement 2 also provides enough information since number of ships departed each day differed and minimum number was 1. On other days, company must have shipped at least 2,3,4,5,6,7. If we take sum of first 7 positive integers, we get 28, which is more than 25.

statement one says - 20 ships departed on a single day.
If for rest of the six days we suppose only 1 ship Departs as it is given that atleast one ship departs each day then the total number ship departing in 7 days = 20 +6 = 26 which is more than 25. Hence on the basis of statement one only we can answer the Question.
Statement 1 is sufficient

Statement 2 says - On each day the number of ship departing is different
If for 1st day we suppose 1 ship departs
2nd day -2 ships depart
3rd day- 3 ships depart
4th day - 4 ships depart
5th day - 5 ships depart
6th day - 6 ships depart
7th day - 7 ships depart

Then total number of ships in 7 days - is more than 25
Statement 2 is Sufficient.
