The person then gets a lifetime discount and can watch all subsequent movies at a ticket price of $25 per movie. If John watched 95 movies in this movie theatre last year, then the dollar amount that he paid for the tickets of the 95 movies is equivalent to which of the following?
Movie # 1 10 = 10 x 50 1120 = 10 x 45 2130 = 10 x 40 3140 = 10 x 35 4150 = 10 x 30 5160 = 10 x 25 6195 = 35 x 25.... no further discount after 25
Total dollar amount can be calculated by adding all results above. BUT, we dont want to do any calculations as the answers are not a single number.
We will try to rewrite the answer in the format of the options:
first 6 values have 10 as common so Total of all 7 terms could be written as (50+45+40+35+30+25) x 10 + 35 x 25
225 x 10 + 35 x 25
This matches with Option C
225 x 10 + (30+5)(305)
Answer: C. 225×10+(30+5)(30−5)

The price of: 1) first 10 movies: 10*50 2) second 10 movies: 10*45 3) third 10 movies: 10*40 4) fourth 10 movies: 10*35 5) fifth 10 movies: 10*35 6) sixth 10 movies: 10*25
Let's stop and calculate this part: Factor out 10 to get > 10*(50+45+40+35+30+25)=10*225
As John has watched 95 movies and we have calculated the first 60 movies cost, we have to calculate 35 movies cost each costing $25 (per stem 25$ is fixed and does not change after 60 movies) 35*25=(30+5)*(305)
Let's sum both parts 10*225+(30+5)*(305)
IMO Ans: C

I was not able to figure out the series based on the option. So I quickly moved to solve.
110 > 500 1120 > 450 2130 > 400 3140 > 350 4150 > 300 5195 > 45X25 = 1125
Adding all ==> 3125
Option C satisfies. Hence C is the answer.

First 50 movies get charged at 505(n1) where n is the set of ten movies John watched, e.g. movies 2130 will be charged at 505(31)=40 and movies 4150 at 505(51)=30 and any movie beyond the first 50 will be charged a ticket of 25 per movie.
If John watches 95 movies, the cost of movies will be given by: \(50*10+45*10+40*10+35*10+30*10+25*45\) ==>> \(10(200)+25*45\). Now we can check to see which of the options give us the same result, we will refer to the portion of 10(200) as the "first part" and the 25*45 as the "second part" :
A. \(200×10+35×25\)  Look at the expression, the first part i.e. \(200*10\) is the same as our answer but the second part is \(35*25\) which is not correct. B. \(60×25+45×35\)  If we factored out the original expression to get 25 in the first part we would have \(80*25+45*25\), now this option is multiplying 20 less in the first part i.e. \(60*25\) instead of \(80*25\), now lets see if multiplying 45 by 35 instead of 25 makes up the difference: \(20*25=500\) (the deficit from the first part) while \(45*10=450\) (the excess from the second part of the expression) we are 50 short then, so this can't be correct either. E. \(225×10+(40+5)(40−5)\)  First part is 250 higher just like options C and D, but second part is 450 higher than original expression, i.e. \(450*35\) instead of \(450*25\) which will be \(45*10=450\) higher than the original answer, incorrect.
Correct option is C.

so the rates will be like below for the 95 days: 10 days50$ 10 days 45$ 10 days 40$ 10 days 35$ 10 days 30$ Remaining days 25$ => 45 days so total=500+450+400+350+300+25*45 =2000 + 45*25 Option A/D &E goes out of picture immediately as they are greater than above.
B is less than the 2000 $ + 45*25 $ so answer is option C.

First 10 moviest at price 50 = 50*10 Second 10 at price 45 = 45*10 .. so it goes till price reaches 25: 10*50+10*45+10*40+10*35+10*30 we are left with 9550 = 45 movies at price 25. We can rewrite \(45*25\) as \(10*25+35*25\) and as \(10*25 + (30+5)*(305)\).
Total equation is therefore as following: \(10*50+10*45+10*40+10*35+10*30+10*25+35*25 = 10*(50+45+40+35+30+25)+(30+5)*(305) = 10*225 + (30+5)*(305)\), which is C
