A number a is squared and then multiplied by negative 3 --> $$a^2*(-3)$$;
The result of this operation is equal to three times the sum of three times a and two --> $$3(3a+2)$$;

So, we have that $$a^2*(-3)=3(3a+2)$$ --> $$a^2+3a+2=0$$ --> $$a=-2$$ or $$a=-1$$.

Answer: B.

We can create the equation:

(a^2) x (-3) = 3(3a + 2)

-a^2 = 3a + 2

-a^2 - 3a - 2 = 0

a^2 + 3a + 2 = 0

(a + 2)(a + 1) = 0

a = -2 or a = -1

Answer: B
