D in a tight race over B.

I'm sure a dictionary would list Impact as both a noun and a verb, but some stylists think it's lazy to use words like impact as a verb.

Or so I think...

I vote for (C).

I think (C) brings out the parallelism between "seriously impact the psychological well-being " and "sharply increase their possibility of having"

Struggling between D and E. I hate prepositional modifers.
I will go with E.

E is better because it is more parallel than D.

Hi mbamantra,

Please post the explaination along with the answer. I would like to know which is better "could seriously impact" or "could have a serious impact". I think this choice making this sentence difficult.

My ears like could have a serious impact

I think "possibility of having" is the correct. Go with C.

Hmm
I visited dictionary.com to find the usage of impact. Basically impact as a verb is not preferred. SO it is more apropriate to use "have impact" rather than just impact.

both bartleby.com and dictionary.com follow american heritage English usage.

Hi stoolfi,

You were right on your tracks.

Anand.
