Thanks!

Salaries need to be compared to salaries. A & B out for comparison of Salaries to other professionals.

C uses what others are paid to compare salary to salary. IMO, does not fare well compared to those of C out

D & E use those of, compares salaries to salaries. We already have lag behind in the sentence to show that teachers make less. So, In D 24,000 less is wrong. Also E is parallel by an average of nearly 8000 and by almost 24K

E is my pick

Will go with E.
Here the comparison is between salaries. Hence, the choices are narrowed down to D and E. (those- which is plural compliments salaries). E is more parallel than D.

a) other college-educated professionals, because they make an average of nearly \$8,000 a year less at the start of their careers and almost \$24,000 less [ Salaries are compared against college-educated professionals – eliminate it]

b) other college-educated professionals, by an average of nearly \$8,000 a year at the start of their careers, to almost \$24,000 [ Same reason as A – eliminate it]

c) what other college-educated professionals are paid-making an average of nearly \$8,000 a year less at the start of their careers and almost \$24,000 less [ Same reason as A – eliminate it]

d) those of other college-educated professionals-by an average of nearly \$8,000 a year at the start of their careers to almost \$24,000 less [by an average of nearly \$8,000 ... almost \$24,000 less - Not parallel]

e) those of other college-educated professionals-by an average of nearly \$8,000 a year at the start of their careers, and by almost \$24,00 [ Hold on]

Like everyone else .... E.

only D and E have correct comparison, "those of......."

E has "by almost 24....."

good one guys! The OA is E. I initially picked D because I honestly missed the redundancy part between "lag far behind" and "less"!

thanks once again.
