draw a figure of octagon ; each angle will be 45*
we will get two isoscles triangle sides ; √2 ,√2 ,2
base of triangle ; 2+2√2 and height 2+√2
so
area
(2+2√2)*(2+√2) /2
IMO C$$4 + 3\sqrt{2}$$
