Let us consider Cost of Pack = P and cost of each candy be C

From Question Stem : 10C > P (cost of 10 candies individually > Cost of Pack ) . What is the value of P?

Statement 1: P = 2+8C (Not suff as we dont know the values of either C or P)

Statement 2: P = 10C - 10%(10C)
= 10C - 1C
P = 9C (Not suff as we dont know the values of either C or P)

Combined
9C = 2+8C
C = 2
Thus P = 18.

A shop offers candy bars for sale either individually or in packs of 10. If buying a pack of 10 candy bars costs less than buying 10 individual candy bars, how much does the shop charge for a pack of 10 candy bars?

Let's assume the cost of a pack of 10 candy bars is \(x\) and the cost of an individual candy bar is \(y\).

(1) Buying a pack of 10 candy bars costs $2 more than buying 8 individual candy bars.

From this, we have: \(x = 8y + 2\). With two unknowns and one equation, this is not sufficient to determine \(x\).

(2) Buying a pack of 10 candy bars costs 10 percent less than buying 10 individual candy bars.

From this, we have: \(x = 0.9 *10y\). Again, with two unknowns and one equation, we cannot determine \(x\).

(1)+(2) We have two distinct linear equations with two unknowns. Thus, we can solve for both \(x\) and \(y\). Sufficient.

Let the cost a pack of 10 bars be x. Let the cost of each bar be y. It is said x< 10y. We need x.

St 1: x = 2+8y. Nothing more to find x or y. Insufficient. AD out.

St 2: x = (1-10%)10y. Nothing more to find x or y. Insufficient. B out.

Combining, 2+8y = (9/10)10y =>y=2. x will be 2+8(2)= 18

C is the answer.
