A stock decreases in value by 20 percent. By what percent must the stock price increase to reach its former value?

A. 15%
B. 20%
C. 25%
D. 30%
E. 40%

Suppose the value of the stock is 100. After decrease in value, it becomes 100-20=80. Required increase =20. Percentage of required increase=\(\frac{20}{80}*100=25\)% increase. Option C.

consider value of stock be 100$

so 20% decrease = 100 *.8 = 80

to get back to same level 100-80/80 = 25 %
IMO C
