Evo23 . It will be great if you mention the conversions also. Every different unit measurement is used in this question
metres, miles minutes, second. I personally dont think such calculation heavy questions are asked in GMAT. If they are proper conversions are mentioned

relative speed of train = (81-45) = 36 mph = $$\frac{36*1.6*1000}{60}$$meters per minute = 960 mpm

train overtakes the freight train in 3 minutes,distance traveled by the train with the relative speed in 3 minutes will be length of train + length of freight train.

Length of train + 1100 = 960*3
length of train = 2880 - 1100 = 1780
