A vessel contains a mixture of two liquids A and B in the ratio of 7:5. If 9 litres of the mixture is replaced by 9 ltrs of liquid B, then the ratio of the two liquids becomes 7:9. How much of the liquid A was there in the vessel?

Ans: 21

7/16 * T = 7/12 (T - 9)

Solve for T

then A = 7/12 * T = 21

Computation error has been corrected.

Here is the anlysis

a/b = 7/5 5a = 7b

(a-9*7/12)/(b-9*5/12 + 9 ) = 7/9

9a - 81 * 7/12 = 7b + 63 * 7/12

9a - 81 * 7/12 = 5a + 63 * 7/12
4a = 144 * 7/12
a = 21
