“Equivalent” and “equal numbers” are too precise. Hence A and E are out.

“as many as” is preferred to” as great as” So D is out.

Choice C changes the meaning of the sentence by not including “enrolled”

Hence my pick would be B

I will go with B.

A: very wordy
B: Correct use of idiom as many .. as
C: "that of" has no referent , enroll missing
D: as great as- incorrect idiom
E: not sure "in equal numbers" is correct ?

Yes, choice B is more concise than A. I think I have seen this question before. Is this an OG problem?
