Hey guys, this is more of a general question and I'm interested to see what the general consensus is. When gauging the difficulty of questions on this forum, do you pay more attention to the slider that shows the difficulty (eg. 55%, 75% etc) or the pie chart indicating correct/incorrect split?
I've had instances where a question was marked as 75% but the percentage of those that got it correct was significantly higher than one would expect. From personal experience, I sometimes just press the OA button instead of choosing one from the A-E range. I guess if the number doing this too was significant enough it might affect it.
Hello,
andrekh98. I will be honest and say that I take the estimated difficulty with a grain of salt, since I understand that the algorithm adjusts the difficulty based on user feedback. If you press the OA button ahead of answering the question, then such a practice will not only contribute to a potentially inaccurate reported difficulty—particularly if you click on the correct answer after seeing the OA—but you will also develop poor study habits, telling yourself if you got a question wrong,
Oh yeah, I knew it was that. You will have no such certainty on the exam, and to prepare for it, you should hold yourself accountable, as though the answer were
not there for you to see. I say this not to scold you. I have noticed that many official questions, particularly those categorized in the
OG as Hard, are rated Medium or even Easy on this site, I suspect from a significant number of people who may look up the answer in the
OG or on this site before actually committing to one. I am simply trying to help you or other readers of the thread develop strong study habits, the kinds that lead to bigger payoffs down the road, when it matters.
Good luck with your studies.
