Actors who are embroiled in personal conflicts produce greater impact on popular culture, as measured by the number of times such actors' personal conflicts are referred to in subsequent movies, songs, and books, that do other actors who do not have troubled personal lives. A and B are out of scope .
D is irrelevant
Between E and C
Let us analyse these two choices .
E there is a shift in focus from troubled personal lives to the action actors as being iconoclast .This resulted in the actors influence .
C talks about that the citations in movies ,songs and books is fair measure of the actor's influence .if it is not so the conclusion that actors with troubled personal lives influence culture more falls apart.

IMO Option C.
The Conclusion of the argument
actors with personal troubles contribute greater to popular culture than those with little personal complications.
Negate Option C
The number of references in movies, songs, and books is not a fair measure of the actor's influence on popular culture.
The Conclusion of the argument falls apart as it is mentioned in the stimulus that the impact of an actor on popular culture is measured by the number of times they are referred in movies, books and songs.
So the answer is option C. Please give me kudos . I need them badly to unlock gmatclub tests.
