Hi,
I am a prospective applicant from India. I have a Undergrad degree in Business Admin from UK GPA 3.3 and have a MS degree in Info Systems from Pace University in New York GPA 3.9.
I have a 700GMAT and have 2 years of work experience in my own private consultancy firm in India. Now I want to pursue a MBA at a top school. What do u think I am lacking and advice me if i have a good shot at applying at some of the top schools.
thanks
Sid
WHich schools are you considering and what do you want to do after you earn your MBA?
In terms of what you lack, you didn't mention community service. You also didn't mention international exposure, which is not a requirement, but it certainly does help. And finally, your self-employment is a double-edged sword. On one had, it shows initiative and could demonstrate real leadership and impact and impressive breadth. On the other, it is difficult to verify and sometimes is a euphemism for either unemployment or a small one-man shop that really is not comparable to the experience of other MBA applicants. To successfully apply without a blue-chip name on your resume, you will have to work hard to educate the adcoms about what you do and convince them that your consultancy provided you with experience comparable to that of other MBA applicants.

Good luck!
