I have some (very) random questions. Couldn’t find answers anywhere, so would be great if you have any answers...
1) Say I wanna learn Spanish during my MBA. Are there any ways/classes/groups at Booth for this (or other foreign languages)? How does it work? Do many students learn foreign language during their MBA?
2) Apart from “normal” internship between 1st and 2nd year, is there possibility to have one more internship I manage to find one (e.g. Jun-Jul/Aug “normal” internship, Aug-Sep/Oct or maybe in a winter break another)? Is it doable?
3) What’s your view on pre-MBA internship? Does anybody do it?
4) Housing: do any students live in “dormitories” (i.e. campus housing) that Booth offers? I always thought that this is the best way to bond, but somehow have an impression that everybody rents something independently.
5) Does Booth do any sort of verification (e.g. Wharton does Kroll, Stanford does something over the summer)? Not that I have anything to hide, but just wanna know.
Well, as said - very random questions.
Thanks in advance!
1. If you do an IMBA, you have to be fluent in a second language. You can take classes anywhere in the University, up to a limit. Don't ask me what that limit is.
2. It definitely is.
3. Haven't met anyone who did one, but couldn't hurt, right? If it's in a role that you'd like to recruit for, all the better.
4. No campus housing, but a lot of people are located in various areas. Specifically, Regent's Park and Millennium Park are two areas where a ton of b-schoolers live.
5. Yeah, it's some sort of background check. Look at Rhyme's post in last year's Chicago GSB thread for details. To paraphrase, they're looking for GLARING errors. For example, I don't remember how much I made 5 years ago, nor do I remember the specific dates on which my job started/ended. None of this matters. What they ARE looking for is you not working/going to school somewhere you said you did.
