I am lucky enough to have the problem where I have been accepted to both Fuqua with $80k in scholarship and Kellogg with $40k for the two year full time MBA program. I am currently at Deloitte and will most likely be sponsored so money isn't the driving factor here but not sure if its an indication of a schools interest in me. Either way, I am looking to pivot out of Life Science consulting into a medical technology finance role in the next few years after B-school and am looking to stay in the New England area for work (pre- and post-MBA). Which school should I choose?? Any insight or guidance is appreciated. Key questions I am thinking of when considering these roles are:
1) Does ranking matter? Both seem to be great schools in the HC MBA field
2) Location - both are smaller towns (Evanston vs. Durham), but is Fuqua have more of a regional reach?
3) Job Placement opportunities - I think both are in the same swim lane?
4) Which culture is best for me? I am looking for a low ego, collaborative culture
5) Partner community - which has better opportunities for my wife to engage with the community while I am in class?
Both schools seem equal to me (outside pure rank) -- any and all guidance in this choice is appreciated!
1) I voted Kellogg as it'll probably help more for any Plan B options (which isn't to say Fuqua is chopped liver).
2) If you've not decided, the two links in my signature block below might help. If you have decided, we'd love to hear.
3) If you pick Kellogg and are even a little bit concerned their healthcare network isn't as good as Fuqua's, start NOW working with career services at Kellogg (and on your own hustle) to get your internship squared away well before you start attending classes.
Thanks! I ended up choosing Fuqua - I think that the job placement for what I want is equal between the two programs and it saved me $$ in the long run!
