Hi,
I need some specific advise regarding my GMAT score and also a profile evaluation.
Firstly, please advise on a specific issue with my GMAT score:
I scored 710 overall. (V-39/Q-49)
I got 5.5 on AWA essay but a lowly 2 on IR. Reason for low IR score is that i somehow forgot during the exam that I have to answer all sub-parts of a question in IR correctly to get credit. Instead, I paced myself to answer more questions quickly, irrespective of whether I got all sub parts right or not.
I'm targeting top european b-schools like INSEAD, LBS and Oxford. Please let me know if my lo IR score will have a detrimental impact on my chances. Should I retake the test.
Also please evaluate my profile for programs like INSEAD, LBS, Oxford. Details as below:
Citizenship - India
Age - 32
Education:
MBA - FMS, Delhi University -one of the top-10 B-schools in India - GPA ~3.2
B.E (Computer Science) - Bhopal Univ - GPA ~3.5
Work experience - 7 years in financial services across Business Development and Sales roles.
Currently working as Associate Vice President with an Insurance company in India (subsidiary of world's leading insurance group). I handle BD activities to secure alliances with strategic bancassurance and third party distribution partners. Have end to end responsibility of initiating engagement with prospect partners (banks, NBFCs & lending institutions, wealth mgmt cos etc), understanding and evaluating business opportunity, structuring business proposal and pitching for alliance, commercial negotiations and deal closure
In past have worked in sales leadership and management roles with ABN AMRO bank (now RBS), ICICI and Citifinancial India - Have experience of leading sales channels and teams in assigned geographies.
Also have experience of working in and leading cross functional teams on organizational projects like creating strategy & blueprints for new distribution initiatives, process improvement projects etc
Extra curricular - Won national level business plan competitions and strategy simulation games during MBA. Active in debates and quiz in school and college.
Reason for pursuing second MBA is to make a career shift to either Business strategy or Corporate/Investment banking roles . Idea is to combine existing skills and experience in Business development and client engagement with formal education with strategy/ finance from a top b-schoool (target - INSEAD, LBS, Oxford).
Please evaluate profile and also advise on issue of low IR score.
