(A) 'if' is redundant since an assumption is already stated

(B) without it their grip on Algeria would never be secure

(C) here 'it' refers to algeria instead of morocco

(D) 'secure about their grip' is awkward

(E) same problem as C. 'it' refers to algeria

B is best. concise and clear.
