Go with D

D is clear/concise, and states that natural gas is the suppleid in NA. Other choices do not make it clear that natural gas is supplied.

What is wrong with A?

I think A's comparision is not as clear as D's.

"after crude oil" should follow "the United States’ second biggest fuel source" right away.

After crude oil, natural gas is the United States’ second biggest fuel source and supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America.

(A) After crude oil, natural gas is the United States’ second biggest fuel source and supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America.
------> "after crude oil" clarifies "second biggest" , its correction position should be after " fuel source" ---> eliminate A.

(B) Natural gas, after crude oil the United States’ second biggest fuel source, supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America.
---> also wrong position of "after crude oil"

(C) Being supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America, natural gas, the United States’ second biggest fuel source after crude oil.
----> lacks of main verb --> out

(D) Natural gas, the United States’ second biggest fuel source after crude oil, is supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America.
----> looks fine

(E) Natural gas is supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America, being the United States’ second biggest fuel source after crude oil. ----> "being" should be avoided

D it is.

A is not parallel.

After crude oil, natural gas is the United States’ second biggest fuel source and supplied almost exclusively from reserves in North America.

Choice D for me too.

I would have found A more compelling if it were worded as follows
natural gas is the United States’ second biggest fuel source and is supplied. Note the word "is" before supplied.

Also C's construction is simpler than that of A.
