I am really confused between A & D.
What differentiates the 2 statements?

There are no clear errors in A, but I think when it is available option, it is always better to begin a sentence with a subject as we heve in D. Besides, in D the emphasize is on the fact that natural gas is supplied exclusively from...and the fact that it is the second biggest resource after crude oil, has additional, not essential meaning. And that's what the sentence is about IMHO

I think "United States" should be in possessive case. This is correctly used in "D"

agree this is the first thing I looked for in the options.
