I didn't select D because I thought it has parallelism error because of absence of "to" before "face impeachment". Could someone please correct my understanding.

Thanks.

Hi Siddharth, the portion till to is the common portion. So, both the following sentences would be correct:

I chose to study rather than play.
- Common portion is till to

I chose to study rather than to play.
- Common portion is till chose

Also reminds of of a very similar official question, where the correct answer is:

A recent study has found that within the past few years, many doctors have elected to retire early rather than face the threats of lawsuits and the rising costs of malpractice insurance.
- Common portion is till to

rather than can be used to connect two similar entities but instead of can not because instead of is not conjunction, which connect two similar identities. instead of is a preposition which can combine with a noun to be adverb or adjective.

doing can be a general action or can be an action of a specific noun in the sentence.

princeton review is still good sourse of practice.
