Most meteoroids are reduced to small fragments when they encounter the lower layers of the Earth's atmosphere because of air friction's producing heat which melts away surface material.
a) of air friction's producing heat which melts away surface material
b) of heat produced by air friction melting away surface material
c) heat is produced by air friction, which melts away their surface material
d) the heat produced by air friction melts away their surface materail
e) surface material is melted away by air friction's producing heat

can u answer this?

C and D both seem correct. But I would choose D too

I would choose "D".

In option C is not clear whether the word "which" references "air friction" or "heat".

Choice B is incorrect, since it simply doesnt seems to suggest that what it melting away the surface material.
