E.

A: Pronoun error: They. The pronoun here qualifies "Festivals". Relative pronoun "that" or "which" is needed in place of personal pronoun "They". Perosnal pronoun (they) is used to replace "subject" (which here is Aho). Relative pronouns (that, which) qualifies phrase / clause or link them.

B. Changes the mening. "Which" is refering to "a Kiowa matriarch’s home".

C. Changes the meaning. Saying Aho was matriarch ONLY while at home

D. Its tricky. Not sure if my explanation makes sense. The statement is "adverbial intro" type of subject verb inversion:
http://www.testmagic.com/grammar/explan ... ersion.htm
"In her home" - is adverbial phrase

"This type of inversion usually only occurs with be-verbs, linking verbs and verbs that show direction or movement, like come, go, run, etc"

E. Correct.

This is a tricky one. I am not sure what is the official answer but I am confused between "D" & "E". The other answers (A, B, C) are clearly out as they are wrong.

But in my opinion "D" sounds OK to me because if you read the complete sentence, the features that are described are of "festivals" not "home".

"D" clearly says "held festivals that featured....."
"E" says "held festivals in her home that featured......"

I may be wrong here but I will go with "D".

Please explain the official answer.

D is the corerct answer.

E is wrong where the restrictive clause modifies homes instead of festivals.
