(E) Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals in her home that featured
-------------------------

(A) ... they featured: has no correlation to the previous part

(B) Festivals were held in Aho : inside a person???

(C) Aho, who was a Kiowa matriarch in her home: Was a matriarch in her home and not outside her home?

(D) In her home, Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals that featured: Too many qualifiers which if removed don't make sense
"In her home held festivals???"

(E) Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals in her home that featured: Correct answer.

D reads a bilt stilted and choppy.

"home that featured" is a correct defining clause construction.

(E) wins here.

Exactly. That's why you are the "Mr. Sharp Arrow."

Will go with D.

The fight's between D and E. But E makes that cardinal error of being ambiguous.

"That" can refer to home or festivals.
D is clear.

I could understand from the posts that E> is wrong,,
But i think even D> has a problem
in D> "Aho" is set off between commas, so it appera to be non-essential to the sentence...
Without "Aho" teh sentence reads :
In her home held festivals that featured....Now e don't know who is "her" refering to..

13.Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals in her home, they featured the preparation of great quantities of ceremonial food, the wearing of many layers of colorful clothing adorned with silver, and the recounting of traditional tribal jokes and stories.

Its not the "Aho" that is set off in commas, its the "a Kiowa matriarch" that is set off between commas. "In her home" is the modifier that modifies Aho. After removing the non-essential part, the sentence becomes:

In her home, Aho held festivals that featured............
