All but 50 of the 1,000 plants at the annual flower show were sold. => No.of plants sold = 1000-50 =950

Of the plants sold, 30 percent were sold at a discount of 25 percent off the full price =>
=> Let full price be p. So 30% of 950 sold at rate=(1-25/100) of p = 75/100 *p


and the remaining plants were sold at the full price of $12.
So full price = p=$ 12. Remaining plans = 70% of 950 sold at rate $12

What was the total revenue form the plant sales =\(\frac{30}{100}*950 * \frac{75}{100}* 12 + \frac{70}{100}*950 *12\)
= 3*95 * 9 + 7*95*12 = 95(27+84) = 95 *111 = 10545
( 95*111 => number ending with 5 and greater than 9500 . Only option C)

We are given that all but 50 of the 1,000 plants were sold; thus 1,000 - 50 = 950 plants were sold. Furthermore, we are given that 30 percent of the plants sold were sold at a discount of 25%; thus 0.3 x 950 = 285 plants were sold at 25% discount.

Since the full-price plants were sold at $12 dollars each, the discounted-price plants were sold at 12 x 0.75 = $9 each. Thus, the revenue from the 285 discounted-price plants was 285 x 9 = 2,565 dollars.

The revenue from the full-price plants was (950 - 285) x 12 = 665 x 12 = 7,980 dollars.

Thus, the total revenue was 2,565 + 7,980 = 10,545 dollars.

I first solved it this way:
Total= 1000
Sold= 950

Sold at 25% of 12= 30% of 950= 285
Remaining sold at 12= 665

Total revenue= 25%*12*285+ 665*12= 8835 (Option B)

Then I saw the solution given and again solved it. I realised that its 25% OFF (i.e. it needs to be subtracted from 12. Discounted price= Total price- discount% of price)

Sold= 950
Sold at the discounted price= 285
Standard price= 665

Total revenue= 285*9+ 665*12= 10545 (Option C)
