Essay 1
What makes you feel alive when you are doing it, and why? (300 words maximum)

Essay 1 Analysis
Question the Status Quo, Confidence Without Attitude, Students Always, and Beyond Yourself are the leadership principles at Haas. The admissions is looking at knowing what pumps your heart and runs your brain - at work or outside. The essay topic doesn't mention which story to use but we strongly suggest to use a personal story here.

What makes you feel alive must be inspiring and energizing for you. The school wants to understand where will this take you and how can that impact the lives of those around you. They want to understand if this will help you leave a mark or lead a new revolutionary idea.

Do not be intimidated if what makes you feel alive is something common such as going to gym daily. The main focus here is not what but why. Show how is this activity just not another activity you love but something that you connect at multiple levels and ways. You need to show how this is an integeral part of your life.

Essay 2
At Berkeley Haas, we are redefining leadership. We value different opinions and perspectives, recognizing that we always have more to learn about others’ lived experiences and histories. We encourage speaking up and listening, and courageously use our power to address barriers and drive change for positive impact.
Tell us how a Berkeley Haas MBA would enhance your leadership profile, incorporating specific examples. (300 words max)

Essay 2 Analysis
Don't repeat information from your resume or the application form. This is the place to show who you are over and above what your application suggests. Illustrating your leadership and impact will take you a big way ahead.

You do not need a title to lead. You lead when you convince members of your team, club, or committee to take a course of action that you have advocated. You lead when you propose a new policy to higher- ups, gather support, and they accept your proposal. You lead when you talk about handling dissenting opinions diplomatically or present your teams’ detailed quantitative evidence for a recommendation. You lead when you provide team members tasks they could handle comfortably based on their capabilities, as well as opportunities to broaden their skills.

This essay would require a good deal of thought. Best method is to write down everything that would enable a diverse profiling and then narrow down the attributes that you feel best define you and can be substantiated well. Link these attributes to what Haas can provide you - Leading through innovation, business competitions, technology, the global reach program.
