E. for .....for is parallel. nepoleon's army is singular.

Straight E. Army is singular and all choices, except E , are using the plural pronoun.

Answer choices A-D contain "they" or some derivation thereof which contrasts with the singular "army."

Only "E" is grammatically correct. I think this one is from OG, don't miss reading OG explanation :)
