Americans' love affair with the Mustang is readily apparent: few Americans have been known to have driven it for the first time without taking it for another spin.


(A) few Americans have been known to have driven it. have been known to have . Incorrect use of have

(B) few having been known to drive it . "having been known to drive it" should have defined Americans, however it does not describe the American rather tells about its action

(C) few Americans have been known to drive it . Sounds ok, no reference error also no mistake as seen in option A

(D) it has been driven by few Americans . It would refer to mustang but then teh entire sentence makes no sense. Also use of colon is incorrect

(E) few Americans having driven it. Same as B

Why use of colon is incorrect? Doesn't 'D' adds further to the point mentioned earlier?

Don't think we can say that the use of colon is wrong, because colon is in the non-underlined portion.
