Yup I got E as well but used fractions instead of decimals & the cancellation was easier

An employer pays 3 workers P, Q and R a total of $610 a week. p is paid 125% of the amount Q is paid and 80% of the amount R is paid. How much does P earn in a week?

a) $150
b) $175
c) $180
d) $195
e) $200

Let R = 20 , Q = 16 & R = 25 (LCM of the percentages 125 % and 80% and then reducing the non important 0's)

Now, P + Q + R = 61

So, P earns 20/61*610 = 200, Answer must be (E)

You could also notice that P earns 5/4 of Q, and 4/5 of R, so at least if we assume everything will turn out to be an integer here, P's earnings are going to be divisible by 4 and by 5, so P's earnings will be a multiple of 20. That only leaves two plausible answers, and it's easy enough to test the simplest one, 200, to confirm it's right.
