Are there any good resources out there for understanding absolute value? I am dumpfounded when they appear on the tests.

Can you give us an example problem that has you stumpped? Examples are often the best way to work through a topic.

As for a resource, I generally really like the purplemath.com (odd name, but it effectively covers many math topics).
