subjunctive mood. "if X were" -->right
"if X was" --> wrong

I think it's C
If I were you, I wouldn't do that
you use 'were' when you have "if something were to happen" construction

Although i am inclined to call it a C, I have some doubts....

the word is 'were' which refers to a singular noun 'a portion'.

considering that i am putting my money on D
