C fits best, I will explain if that is the right answer.

I Go with the E

can you guys all please post the explanations as along with your answers, it helps us learn faster.

A is wrong b'se of the modifier during 1950's, it should modify the total sentence not just the practsed falling.
B same here during 1950's modifies learning to live
C separation between learning to live and with their diabilities
D same problem as A
E correctly places the modifier during 1950's at the beginig of the sentence.

can someone better explain?

I will go with C. In E "as part of their therapy" is not making the sentence coherent.

[quote="afife76"]As part of their therapy, young polio victims learning to live with their disabilities were helped to practice falling during the 1950s, so that they could learn to fall without being hurt.
(A) As part of their therapy, young polio victims learning to live with their disabilities were helped to practice falling during the 1950s
(B) As part of their therapy, young polio victims learning to live during the 1950s with their disabilities were helped to practice falling
(C) Young polio victims learning to live during the 1950s with their disabilities were helped to practice falling as part of their therapy
(D) Young polio victims learning to live with their disabilities were helped to practice falling during the 1950s as part of their therapy
(E) During the 1950s, as part of their therapy, young polio victims learning to live with their disabilities were helped to practice falling

a) so 'during the 1950's' seems to define falling...no good
b) as part of their therapy should modify practice falling
c) good. during modifies the whole sentence...learning to live et al.
'falling as part of their therapy' is good
d) same as a
e) what does 'as part of their therapy modify'? -> helped to pratice falling.
so I go with C. Good question though.

Initially I choose D, but amitbalan has his point - during the 1950s
seems to define falling...so C looks ok as well.

Need OA

I'll go with E
A and D are out because it is as if the polio victims were practicing to fall during the 1950's. Out they are
B and C's error is more subtle. I believe prepositional phrase "with their disabilities" should come directly after what it intends to modify: young polio victims learning to live and not during the 1950s
