Boy O Boy!!!
This website is just a blessing for those who even have a microscopic interest in Taking GMAT and pursuing towards MBA Degree.
I was not seriously thinking to take GMAT until I found this site and read several postings.I am now 100% Charged up to take GMAT.
My Background:
Education : Bachelors in Comp.Engg from India undergrad % =79.3 % which equates to almost
3.9/4.00
I took GRE in 1998 and had a weak score(1720-V 360,Q 710,A 650) was very disappointed initially so started to work after college.
Applied to a small US School in Oregon for MS in Mathematics/CS program and got admit Fall 2000, had full Grad Asstship and completed
the course in Fall 2001 with
GPA 3.73/4.00
I took an International Business class during my MS program and really liked it.My thesis was about Walmart business ups and downs outside the continental US.
After Graduation, the US IT market was at its bottom,so had to shift 3 jobs to survive and luckily the 4th one was a breakthrough.Got exposed to Geographic Info Systems(GIS) and started to work with cool stuffs like Bombing Detection and UnXploded Ord Mining-Geophysics.
In 2005 I moved to consulting and now designing a 911/comp aided dispatch system for a statewide GIS system for a State law enforcement Agency-Calif.
why an MBA?
i am planning to combine GIS with an MBA degree in strategic mangement and statistical analysis.
Now the real Question?
Is my background sufficient for doing MBA-This time I am damn straight to do it only Top B-Schools.
what is it that I need to do to get a good score 700+ or 90th above percentile?
I have OG11th,
OG Verbal,
OG Quant and Kaplan 20006 edition with me
planning to buy few CAT exams.
what shud my focus and study strategy be??
Can you guys share this and give me some feedback on areas I need to improve on my professional background/career side.
I am not currently eyeing any particular school.waiting till GMAT score is acceptable.
Thanks and hoping to get and give back information
