Great question. Initially threw me off and I wasted a lot of time because I thought was a percent/sets question but it's just alegbra.

1) Exactly 7 of the employees at the company are males who are sales staff.
This does not give us information about males not on the sales staff, women on sales staff etc. Not sufficient
2) There are 16 more female employees than male employees at the company
This gives us:
w = m + 16
.75total = w
.25total = m
Substitute into first equation you have
.75total = .25total + 16 Sufficient

Let M be number of males
Let S be number of sales staff

M=25%
S=50%

1) M&S = 7
We cant find the total since we know nothing about what percentage of total employees is 7, and that just males and sales staff may not make up the entire employee set

2) F = M+16
and we know M is 25%
So F is 75%
3M = M + 16
M=8
Total employees=M+F=32

Ans B - Statement B Alone but not A alone is sufficient.

Statement A : We are not sure If the number of males is just 7,it could be more, not sufficient.

Male 25 %, Female 75 %
Females are 16 more than the males

Also 75 %- 25 % = 16, So we can have 16 = 50 % of the total

16:50 , then 16*100/50 = 32.
