If the ratio of the number of sweaters to the number of trousers is 6 to 5, what is the ratio of the number of jackets to the number of sweaters?

Let s be for shirts
T be for trousers
J be for jackets
Sw for sweaters.

S:T:J:Sw
4:5
8: :3
:5: : 6

Now we need to unify the numbers
So first row multiply by 2

It becomes 8:10. Then we multiply final row by 2 to unify it again, we have 10:12

3:12 = 1:4

Solution

Given:
• Shirts: Trousers = 4: 5
• Jackets: Shirts = 3: 8
• Sweaters: Trousers = 6: 5

To find:
• Jackets: Sweaters = ?

Approach and Working:
As Shirts: Trousers is 4: 5 and Sweaters: Trousers is 6: 5, we can combine them and say that
• Shirts: Sweaters = 4: 6 = 8: 12

We also know Jackets: Shirts = 3: 8.

Again, by combining, we can write,
• Jackets: Sweaters = 3: 12 = 1: 4

Hence, the correct answer is option C.
