Let total number of ice cream cones sold = x
Number of pistachio sold = x/9
Number of remaining ice cream cones = (8/9)*x
Number of rocky road sold = 1/4 * 8/9 * x = (2/9) * x
=> (2/9)x = n
=> x/9 = n/2

Let, Total Ice cream cones=36
(1/9)*36 = pistachio = 4

Remaining cone = 36-4 = 32

(1/4)*32 = Rocky road = 8 = n

Pistachio = 4 = 8/2 = n/2

Let the total no. of ice creams = x
Pistachios = x/9 and rocky road = (x- x/9) / 4 = (8x/9)/4 = 2x/9

Now , 2x/9 = n
x = 9n/2

therefore, pistachios = n/2

Let total be x
pista = x/9
left =8x/9
rocky= (8x/9) * 1/4 = 2x/9 = n
-> x = 9n/2
pista = 1/2 *n
