At a certain state university last term, there were p students each of whom paid either the full tuition of x dollars or half the full tuition. What percent of the tuition paid by the p students last term was tuition from students who paid the full tuition?

(1) Of the p students, 20 percent paid the full tuition.
(2) The p students paid a total of \$91.2 million for tuition last term.

Is it the percentage of students or the percentage of tuition amount paid?

A.
total student = p
total tution = x
half tution = x/2

from i, total tution paid by 20% of p, so the amount = 0.2px
half tution paid by 80% of p, so the amount = 0.8px/2=0.4px
total = 0.2px+0.4px = 0.6px
the desired % = [(0.2px)/(0.6px)]100 = 100/3

from ii, donot know how manypaid full and half........

The question is asking for the total tuition paid, say 1000 dollars, what percentage is paid by studnets who paid in full.

(1) We're told 0.2p paid in full. So 0.8p paid half. Total tuition fees can be calculated in terms of x and then we can calculate the % paid by students who paid in full.

(2) Not useful as we do not know who paid in full and who paid half.
