17. At a certain university, if 50 percent of the people who inquire about admission policies actually submit applications for admission, what percent of those who submit applications for admission enroll in classes at the university?
(1) Fifteen percent of those who submit applications for admission are accepted at the university.
(2) Eighty percent of those who are accepted send a deposit to the university.

This question looks like a play with words.

Statement 1 obviously isn't sufficient.

Statement 2 is also not sufficient but here is where the wording isn't very clear.

If sending a deposit means you enrol in a class, then the answer is C.

If sending a deposit just means you want to hold down a place in a university (for instance, maybe you want to work for another year) but not enrol in a class, then the answer is E.
