B, C and E require the additional verb.e.g.
In my class, Kate is intelligent, but in another class in which/where there are other bright students, she is not noticeable. The example above must have the similar structure to be right. E is wordy. So A remains correct.

Confused between A and D , will go with A for conciseness

Even I feel the same. I thought of D but where makes the sentence incomplete...
I go for A.

A it is.

D makes the sentence incomplete.

Count one more vote for A. All other options sound awkward and wordy.

Could you provide explanation for the choices ? I know the answer so instead of saying A,B,C,D and E please provide the logic and rules behind it. I wrote the question here to learn what was my mistake and why this mistake arised.

I also think the answer is A. This is a construction that follows the "A but B" format, which typically requires that A and B be parallel in structure. Looking at the choices:

(A) in the stratosphere - correctly contrasts with 'at the ground level'
(B) in the stratosphere, in which - in which is redundant, already contains 'in'
(C) it is in the stratosphere in which - distorts meaning, awkward
(D) in the stratosphere where - breaks parallelism, 'where' redundant
(E) it is in the stratosphere and - distorts meaning, breaks parallelism

Another A...Using D would seem to make an incomplete sentence...

Because of the very vastness of grammar, I have always found the elimination method to get correct answer in SC.

I will try to reason it via "Process of Elimination" :

(A) in the stratosphere Parallel to "at the ground level" I donot find any error. So lets leave it now
(B) in the stratosphere, in which - which is unnecessary. Eliminated
(C) it is in the stratosphere in which Same as B
(D) in the stratosphere where - Where is unnecessary. Eliminated
(E) it is in the stratosphere and - No need of conjunction. Eliminated.

Now we can see, we are left with only option A. And others have clear errors.
HENCE A.
