Can you say interval and between? Is it redundant?

I believe "interval between two points in time is ok" Otherwise D looks fine. But the problem here is that if D is accepted we dont know how many times the comet has passed. The word "between" gives a clear indication that the sentence is talking about two passes.

I could be wrong here ( Because Paul has posted this Q ).

ANAND:

It is not the interval between two points in time......It is the interval between two passes of its orbits....I think it is correct to say "between its passes".....

Hi Monarc,

That is what I meant. There are two distinctive points time when it passes by earth.

OA is C. "interval between" is correct usage.
E is wrong because it changes sentence meaning and also makes it incomplete. "76-year interval" of what?
