very good question. if i remember it correctly, it is from OG:

i chose B for firms to confirm the later expression of "such firms".

same idea here... since firms tend to be very large, firms must survive in the industry

E uses possessive, thus not parallel to firms

Had it only been "firms" in the latter part, we need not have mentioned firms in the underlined parts. The difference comes b'coz of "such"
