I think it is D.

Because young children do not organize their attention or perceptions systematically as adults do...

You need a verb here, to make the construction parallel. So other choices are wrong.

what is wrong with A?

I think A makes it seem as if children and adults are compared whereas the act of orgnizing attention and perceptionis what's compared here thus D

There is a contrdiction in the sentence between the old and the young and A does not depict that..that is why i believe A is wrong and i choose D too...

the reason why A) is wrong is cause we have "like adults" which means similar to the adults and not the way the adults do it
